What:

I am planning on riding to this event and displaying PGR to join in laying the wreaths. This is not a PGR ride but normal PGR decoration on bikes is encouraged. I encourage all who can make it to participate. This is a rain or shine occasion.

I have contacted Susie Stocking, one of the organizers, and she has generously agreed to designate space for motorcycle parking as parking will be an issue. Please reply to this e-mail and advise if you are going so I can let Susie know how many bikes to expect asap. (aldonaldson (at) sbcglobal.net) (Obviously, if the weather is bad, we can take cages and carpool.)

The Plan:

Stage in American Canyon at 2185 Elliott Drive. Depart at 8:00am sharp. We will proceed North on Elliott Drive to American Canyon Road. Turn right on American Canyon Road and proceed to Hwy-80 East. Take Hwy-80 East to Midway Rd., exit-60. Midway Rd. to the cemetery at 5810 Midway Road, Dixon California. (est. 35 - 40 minutes)

Go directly to the cemetery by yourself or your own group. (Please let me know how many bikes.)
Take you car and follow our group.
Meet at my house and leave at 7:40am to go to Elliott Drive staging.

ATTACHMENT AS FOLLOWS:

Hello All!

It’s once again time to begin organizing and collecting for the laying of the holiday wreaths at the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery in Dixon.  This year’s event will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, December 13, 2008.

As in previous years, our goal is to ensure that each gravesite is decorated with a wreath during the holiday season and there are currently 3,700 there. This year, we are teaming up with the Wreaths Across America project.  The cost of each wreath is $15 but we are participating in a “3-for-2” special, so we will be able to get three wreaths for every $30 collected.  Any amount you are able to donate will be combined and forwarded to Wreaths Across America.  Our deadline for submission is November 28, 2008.

We know this is a huge undertaking, since the cemetery is growing so quickly and it’s been a tough year economically, to attempt to collect the necessary funds for this project, but we feel sure that our local and surrounding communities will again come through for this very special memorial event to honor our veterans.  We would like to take this time to extend an invitation to all of you (individuals, families, community groups, businesses, veterans, etc) to join us on December 13th to help with the placement of the wreaths and share in the planned program.  (The significance of the time on December 13th is that wreath ceremonies will be held simultaneously around the world then).

For donation information please call Curtis Stocking at California Outdoor Properties (707.761.3343), email curtis (at) caoutdoorproperties.com, or call Susie (707.249.5852), email susie_qs_quilts (at) yahoo.com.  Checks may be made payable to: Wreaths Across America and mailed to:

Thank you all for supporting this event again this year!  We look forward to another successful effort.

Sincerely,

Curtis Stocking and Rick Martindale
