Landscaper to recommend?

Hi, I'm looking for a local landscaper or landscaping maintenance company to help beautify our back yard in American Canyon. Does you have someone you're happy with or that you would recommend? I sure would appreciate any suggestions. I've already called one person to come by the house to check it o...

LaVigne Community Stuff

Hi, If you live in the LaVigne subdivision and are interested in getting more involved in the sub-community of the division itself, there's an organization which calls itself the LaVigne Neigbors Committee. They are working with the city on various issues that relate to our extra tax assessments, la...

Oh.

Thanks, mindingcitybiz. It's been so hard for me to understand completely. Given all that, it seems to me that the EIR is the requirement. Maybe our city can get that study underway, but ask for Wal-Mart's help in getting in expedited. ($$) Ultimately, if there is additional work to be done for AmCa...

Update on LaVigne Signs

I received this message yesterday from a neighbor; just passing it on, fyi.

Hello, the vandal that removed the Shea Home signs has been caught and the plaques were found in a Concord recycling center. They will be put up in a few days.

What a Mess.

So what are the possible outcomes of this situation? I don't understand what could possibly happen from here... - Is Wal-Mart free to open in January regardless, while City of AmCan may have to pay out a ton of $ to settle a lawsuit with the owners of that property, AND have the unknown traffic and ...

Who needs a $125 million school. Many of us are still wondering why it can't be built for under $60m, like I understand our neighboring communities have recently built?

Isn't the $125m number inflated?

Does anyone know?

Forums are good

I got a lot out of attending the forum before the last election. I agree the format may have room for improvement, but it was a great education for me. I walked out of there KNOWING who I would vote for (and who I would never vote in) because I heard the candidates' answers first-hand, and observed ...

Non-voters

Speaking of non-voters, I had an interesting conversation with some neighbors after the election. I asked them what they thought of the pathetic result and the ridiculousness of Joan Bennett winning. It was obvious to me that I have much in common with this neighbor, from a socio-economic perspectiv...

What a pro

Paul, it's the city's loss, not to have you on the council. I hope that you will remain an active force in the development of the city and this community. You're the voice of reason and logic in a town where there's such a lack of both.

We still need you!

OK. I had that wrong

I didn't realize that it is accetpable for newspapers to endorse a candidate at the end of a campaign like that, so I'm sorry. But I still oppose your commentary. Here's the problem: When you post articles that you didn't author under your username without crediting the place/person you got the stor...

You've got to be kidding me.

Um, I thought journalists and news organizations were supposed to be impartial, providing a service to citizens: Reporting the news/facts. What kind of newspaper ENDORSES a candidate?? The kind with its own agenda. (Oh and apparently one that can't seem to print a single issue without typos and gram...

By the way, the opinions of a lot of voters are favorable to Maguire too. The rest of the candidates (including you, Joan, I'm sorry) pale in comparison. No one else has shown Paul's level of intellect, business sense, common sense and likely ability to do the job. With or without propaganda or opin...

I attended, and learned a fair amount about each candidate. I thought the forum was very helpful, as I only moved here a year ago. The text below sums up my observations and OPINIONS, which of course are just my own. Hopefully my directness doesn't offend anyone. And I sincerely apologize that I don...

Thank you for informing us Paul. This is absolutely outrageous! Under this proposal/plan, Napa City gets $100m and Napa County gets $100m. Let's do some math to see where we really stand in our fair county.... Compare apples to apples, so-to-speak. If the County were to spread their $100m evenly acr...

Birds in the Roof?

Does anyone out there have the same problem we do with birds living in our roof? We live in the LaVigne development - the rooftops are made of tile so you can't climb/walk on the roof, but when the homes were built they included these little circular holes around the edges of the roof so that birds ...

Thanks for the referrals, Lola and Guest.

I'll definitely try Spa Bellisima. Good service AND local: Sounds like a win on both counts!

Martinez place sounds good too, but maybe a little far for me for now. Just getting to know the area and such....

Thanks again for the tips, Neigbors!

oh no!

I'm relatively new in town and hated to read the above reports! I've been getting my nails done at KJ! Luckily no infections so far, but I won't risk it again.

Does anyone have an alternative nail salon to recommend?
