If you haven't read the latest edition of the Post, you are missing out on some very interesting stuff. The articles regarding the Council meetings and the editorial by Paul Maguire were particularly enlightening. These 2 articles seem to recap several topics from this on line forum. This edition is worth reading.

The Napa-Solano post is one of the best reads in town. The quality of the paper continues to improve.

I love reading the Post. The new layout is fantastic and I love how they included the Community section. I noticed that the Rag paper the Eagle is trying to copy the post. Figures...
I signed on to NapaSolanoPost.com last night because I couldn't wait for the new edition to come in my mailbox!

I agree. The NS Post is the best paper in town. The eagle is ok once in a while, but all the ads are for Napa businesses, not American Canyon. The NS Post has more ads that are local businesses. The paper has more news about the community that the other two rags(echo and eagle) combined. My only critical remark in that it ought to come out bi-monthly because it is THAT GOOD!

The Napa Solano Post is our only community paper. I enjoy the articles from our local people. One thing that is never mentioned is our seniors. Our Seniors they have pages dedicated to their needs. I find it also helpful in guiding my aging parents to protect themselves financial and physically.
Hopeful it will become bi-weekly. As our community grows hopeful so will the Post.

You cant blame the Eagle and Echo for this! Im on the Vintage High Schools Yearbook staff and it isnt THAT easy to get ads. First you have to speak w/ the owner or managers (who are, like always, never there) then ask them to purchase an ad...(Not many American Canyon businesses WANT to buy them anyway) ...this past year i believe that only ONE baught an ad...and that was Holy Family Parish...not even a business......anyways its not easy....if people say no...you have to attempt to get them to change there mind......
....look at the post's ads....Luproini has one...shes a council member (and a new friend of coffey)...also, Paul Meguire's casino....he's and writer of the paper...anyways there are just from connections and ties with people...

The Post's Ad Rep has had a lot of businesses from American Canyon. I spoke to her and she is having a great time doing it and not having a hard time. Businesses WANT to advertise in local newspapers. There is a difference between advertising in a yearbok and advertising in a newspaper...The businesses know they will get business from a newspaper. Maybe they just don't think it is worth putting the money into a yearbook where the largest majority of who will see the ads are basically 18 year olds... Just my opinion.

The yearbook only comes out at the end of the year when most kids are moving on. There is a limited amount of advertisers who would benefit from this advertising. Car dealerships, Job placement services, local junior colleges, or public officials wishing new grads well. It is a tight market.
Newspapers offer frequency. Although the Eagle is weekly the information is often tainted and old. People who subscribe to the Register often see the same information. It is easier for the Eagle to do that as there is no official staff for the paper. It was basically created to promote and advertise Wal-Mart.
The Echo has been around awhile. It is run by volunteers. The staff has changed quite a bit. They try but in order to keep it cheap they have to keep costs down. That is why the quality of press is so bad. But it serves its purpose.
The Times and the Register just battle to keep an interest in the market. To offer it as an additional place to pay for advertising. Neither has a sincere interest in the success of the community.
As for the Post, the Post is owned and operated by a local American Canyon resident. Who obviously is working to make it better and better. It use to be bi-monthly but there wasn't enough news to make it economical. It is much better to cover the hot topics in detail, offer some humor and create a well rounded publication monthly.
In its current form, the post can grow as needed to accomodate the demands of the businesses and public. As for advertisers, many have tried the other publications and it is either too unreliable or cost prohibitive. The Post has been around for three years. It serves as a hub for new graphic designers to gain experience and then move on into careers in the industry.
Each new designer is given creative license to make changes where ever they want, that is how they learn and it keeps the paper fresh.
As for the advertisers, it makes the best sense to brand build in the city's most reliable and economic source. Name repetition builds brand awareness. It is much better to be in a publication that prints monthly and is read, than one that is sent weekly and is not.
Oh and another advertiser for year books is the banks. And recruiters for the military. These are great for yearbooks and there are quite a few of both.
Good Luck-

Hello I am a Post advertiser. I have been in all 4 newspapers and found that the Post is the best option for my money. As a business in A/C it is difficult to keep the doors open while people find you. It was the best investment for my company. I have been with the paper for sometime and will continue making it a budget item for my monthly expenses.
If you are not advertising then why are you in business? Advertising is necessary to keep you in the public's eye. If you didn't plan to advertise or don't have the money then close your doors you won't succeed.
The other things I like about the Post is the staff markets my business, gives me free help with other media projects I might want to do and it is an American Canyon resident that owns a business like me. My success is her success.
I also like her philosophy of limiting advertisers in categories. For example only one realtor can have a full page ad, 2 can have 1/2 pages, 4 can have quarter pages, and 4 for 1/8th pages, unlimited business section. That is all based on pages. At this time there is a really tight limit since she is at 32 pages. But there is still a limit. It protects the advertisers unlike the grapevine or other coupon type books. She also tries to separate the ads as much as possible with the same products. No other paper does that nor do they care.
As long as I do business in this town I will advertise with the Post. I have sent others there who are doing the same. Why aren't you advertising in the Post instead of blaming the public for not supporting you. All business takes time. But I will tell you once they find you they become dedicated if you are a good business.
Check it out!!! I love it! Oh and thanks for making our businesses great by coming and visiting us.
A VERY HAPPY Post Advertiser.

One more thought- The Post allows any advertiser to write articles that are used on a space available basis with no guarantees. Also if you look on page 2, anybody can send in articles. Who cares if it is Paul Maguire, the guy has a lot to say don't you read this online community? Why don't you send articles? I know several who have, and some have become columnists.

This isssue was one of the best. The article by Paul Maguire hit the nail on the head. I am thankful someone has the willingness to tell it like it is. My neighborhood is starting to look tired already after just 5 years here.
I love the Post

I love reading the Post. I think it is a great paper with a variety of articles. Some serious and some not. I think it is the most current paper to keep up with our growing community. I love all the color.
Nice Job
