Copy of Press Release of May 28th 2006
American Canyon, CA: The Napa Valley Casino, located at 3466 Broadway in American Canyon, will change hands May 30th 2006.
The owner, Paul Maguire, sold the card room to BVK Gaming, INC, in April of 2005. The new owners received their license from the state, after completing a complete criminal, financial, and character backround check by the Department of Justice, required to receive a California State Gambling license. They were approved by the Gambling Control Commission last month. The process took just over one year to complete.
Maguire went through the same process when he received his gaming license in 2000.
"Few realize the number of people that meet one another at the card room, and end up doing business together, or getting together socially at other events. It is a great venue to meet other members of the community in an informal setting on a daily basis." says Maguire. " I have met business owners here in town, realtors, mortgage brokers, engineers of various backrounds, mobile home park residents, retirees, new residents, military pilots, and a variety of other members that make up the community in and around American Canyon. "
Maguire says he sold the card room to focus on other opportunities including his current run for City Council in American Canyon. " The staff including Stella took the business to a whole new level, and it was time to move on. Poker is more popular than ever, but the decision was made last year to go out on top, and I sold it to Brian and his group."
The card room has a packed parking lot on several nights during the week and weekend. The number of employees has tripled since being purhased by Maguire from the late Bill Long in 1999. The card room created the Napa Valley Dealing School, which had a 90% hiring rate with other card rooms upon completion of training.
The new owners, which include Brian Altizer, who will manage the club, are excited to become part of the American Canyon business community.
Brian was formally a floor person at the California Grand in Pacheco, and relocated from Arizona to buy this card room here in American Canyon.
"I want to thank all of the customers that supported the card room over the years, and especially Stella Tan the Casino Manager, and all the other staff including Raymond To, Dennis Luddy, and all the dealers, vendors, and other participants" said Maguire. " I wish BVK Gaming the best in their future with the card room."
